My mind changes like something that changes all the time. I didn’t really want to use the weather because it was so predictable. I must say I have the cutest disclosure page but I am waiting on this perfect picture to accompany it before I publish it. I reference the page because this it explains in detail what I like about Doing Sowell. I like to stumble upon things and blog that whole experience. There may be times when someone has to place a gem in my lap but for the most part, I like to make the discovery and talk about how I came about it.
When I attended BlogHer, I stopped by The Seventh Generation booth and they had some freebie that was actually grass or something. The details escape me but I liked it because it was eco friendly and a cute way to disseminate information. I am trying to be more environmentally friendly. I litter less and I have been recycling a whole lot more. Not only that but with four children in the house, I need to use products that are better for them to inhale and cause less damage down the line as they grow. I came home from the conference, threw the grass thing in the drawer and forgot about it. Of course now that I have tried out their stuff, I can’t find it.
I am not too sure how natural Dawn is but their product had me rushing home to do dishes. Remember this post?
Well, there has been a changing of the guard. Picture it Philadelphia 2009. (RIP Estelle Getty from Golden Girls, remember she used to say picture it, Sicily and then some year?) anyhoo, I am in Target doing my thing. My thing is: walking around in all the aisles in every direction but the registers. I find myself buying cleaning supplies. Right then in Aisle 19 it hit me. (Yes I know the layout of my local Target) I need to start being more eco-friendly. So now I am looking around at different products to see what makes them qualified to be in my home. Are they dye and fragrance free? A this point, I don’t even know the facts or what I should be looking for. All I know is that we needed dishwashing liquid and I was on a mission to go green. At the end of the aisle (which could easily have been the beginning for some one else) I saw the Seventh Generation spread. Folks, I went it. I got everything.
I bought a kitchen cleaner:
Apparently, they use use hydrogen peroxide—a safe alternative to bleach—to cut grease and remove tough stains. Plus, the earthy wild-orange-and-cedar spice scent makes cleaning up an aromatic experience.
I bought the dishwashing liquid:
but I bought the Lavender one because I still needed a fragrance. The picture above though is free and clear of both artificial color and fragrance. So when I restock, I will use this free and clear one. Unless of course when I do some further research I find out the lavender is not artificial. *~*
I bought dryer sheets:
the only thing I can’t get used to seeing is the brown dryer sheet. I always bite my tongue when I take the clothes out the dryer because I start to scream at the kids for leaving paper in their pockets, but then I realize it is the new stuff. It will take some adjusting to.
I’m really trying to be more environmentally friendly. I think these products are a step in the right direction. In my research I found that Seventh Generation recently changed their packaging to a more clean and simple design, in addition to including the full ingredient lists on their products with a new “we have nothing to hide, we disclose all ingredients” mantra (gotta love honesty!). I hope you give it a try, if you do, let me know. Also, let me know if you are already using it. Toodles!

I use the free and clear dish soap and I add tea trea&Peppermint essential oil to it. I prefer a scent so mix a little orange/lemon essential oil…lavender&lemon together makes a nice scent also. Gotta try the dryer sheets. I’m gonna mix some recipes I found and try making my own dishwashing powder/detergent for laundry. I’ve already been doing it for regular cleaning…vinegar, essential oils, castille soap, baking soda, lemon juice have been doing the trick and no chemicals and it really cleans.saves $ too. Most companies aren’t required to list what they use to make household products. scary when you find out what’s really in that stuff. I’m glad 7th generation has a new policy.
