I effs with the crock pot. It is probably one of my most utilized tools in the kitchen. I love putting in some short ribs, chicken and vegetables or in this case a mix of beans, spices and chicken broth for an ultra fab creation the next day. I don’t think many people own a crock pot or those that do, use it too infrequently. Ladies & gents, pull it out of the box and put it to work. As I mentioned before, back to school means back to the kitchen for me. On the nights I need to work out, I need to make sure dinner is already prepared so that my goal to bikini beautification is not in the way of the kids’ schedule. Tonight I am making black bean soup in the crock pot. I happen to have a crock pot that doesn’t actually turn off when the cycle is finished. This is an added benefit because a) I don’t burn anything and b) I a not losing valuable sleep time checking the pot to see when it is finished. After the set cook time, the unit goes into warm mode and by the time I get home or wake up (depending on when I cut it on) dinner is ready. Here is my model and so far I am digging it:

I am going to aim to use this baby at least once a week and post some pictures of the meals created. Tonight I made a Black Bean Soup which happens to be my favorite. It’s in the crock pot now so I can’t testify to how good it is but it sure does smell good. Here’s what I did:

Goya Black Beans in the can

Chicken Stock-about 2 cups

Celery

Carrots

2 Chicken Breasts (grilled)

Seasonings

*Add all of these things to the crock pot. I added the chicken whole so that tomorrow it should be at a consistency where I can pull it to shreds. Yummy.

Since I am not sure if the recipe is golden, let’s wait until tomorrow to see the pictures and sample the dish. I promise this will not be a case of The Food Network where they taste the dish and start raving. If it’s bad, I will let you know. Goodnight.

If you wish to purchase the crock pot and earn me about $0.50 commission, click below.

Lol at 50 cents commission. I have a Rival, half the size of yours. It makes some succulent pot roast, lol. I’m wondering if I should upgrade.
