Anniversary Gift

A home should always have fresh cut flowers. When I first saw this house, I knew I wanted to put flowers everywhere. It was because of this house that I fell in love with gardening. Living in an apartment, I did not get a chance to really work in a garden so this house has provided me with plenty of opportunity. I buy flowers on a weekly basis. Prior to working in the farmer’s market, I would buy flowers from the florist but never had a chance to pick them out. I would just call in my order, tell them how much I wanted to spend and get the delivery. I would come home and gawk over the centerpiece and then throw it out at the end of the week. There was really no selection in the piece. As controlling as I am, I was surprised I allowed someone else to make that decision for me. So since we opened Calypso, I started buying my flowers from one of the vendors at the farmer’s market. I go in and hand pick my bouquet and this way I get an opportunity to create my design and focus more on the flowers I like.

So since this is the 1st of June, I figured I would add a new feature where I share with you the weekly floral arrangement. The flowers above were a gift from hubby for the anniversary. It is amazing because I only said a few times that peonies are one of my favorite flowers so him getting me a bouquet of peonies lets me know that he is listening. Sweet!!! Or it could be that he felt guilty that he let Kayden and M’khai go outside last weekend without him and when I came home Kayden had taken a broom to my peony garden and petals were everywhere. I was devastated. Either way, I think my gift was lovely (and completely unexpected) so enjoy the gallery below of the peonies, some sunflower and a special orchid. Have a fabulous day!
